    Common Name: Costa Rican Zebra Tarantula, Striped-Knee Tarantula
    Native Locale: Costa Rica and Central America
    Category:  Terrestial, New World
    Adult Size:  Females = 6 inches    Males = slightly smaller
    Lifespan:  Females = 20 years    males = 5 years
    Temperament: Not aggressive, skittish, fast runners. Prefers to run away from danger, and will flick hairs before biting. Venom is said to be mild in toxicity. Medically significant if allergic.
    Difficulty: A good species for beginning collectors,

     

    Identified by its black or brown with white stripes near the leg joints.

    Requires sufficient substrate for deep burrowing.
