Versicolor is derived from Latin, meaning varied colors, a fitting name for these isopods with a range of hues and patterns based on their locale. A. versicolor is distributed throughout central Europe. This particular culture was originally collected from Poland.

Armadillidium versicolor are very active and prefer a temperate to semi-arid environment. An overly wet habitat may negatively impact their molting. A good gradient is recommended, starting with moderately wet conditions, the middle being moist, and the opposite end being dry.

AKA "Pill Bug", thus rolls into a ball to retain moisture when the habitat is too dry, as well as a defensive posture.

Captive bred. Colonies include various sizes/ages.
