Reproduction: The American line is a male-dominant species, and therefore, breeding is significantly slower than the Japanese line.
Growth:
Difficulty: Good for beginning collectors. Easy to care for.American line bred. From the family 'Armadillidiidae,' and cousin to the common pillbug. Identified by a white shell speckled with large, bright yellow spots and smaller black specks. The American line may also show orange specks instead of black specks.
A large and extremely hardy isopod that prefers semi-arid environments. Armadillidium does not tolerate excessive moisture—a moderate moisture gradient with recommendations online ranging from 1/4 to 1/3 wet-to-dry ratio.
Not sexually dimorphic.
AKA "Pill Bug", thus rolls into a ball to retain moisture when the habitat is too dry, as well as a defensive posture.
Captive bred. Colonies include various sizes/ages.
