The Details:
A morph of the Armadillidium vulgare and cousin to the common pillbug. The Japanese line displays a semi-translucent white shell with large, bright yellow splotches and smaller black spots.
The Japanese line can tolerate a wide range of temperatures and humidity levels. They prefer semi-arid environments and can not tolerate excessive moisture—a moderate moisture gradient with recommendations online ranging from 1/4 to 1/3 wet-to-dry ratio.
Not sexually dimorphic.
AKA "Pillbug," thus rolls into a ball to retain moisture when its habitat is too dry, as well as a defensive posture.
