Difficulty: Good for beginners. Easy to breed and care for.A mixture of the most common Armadillidium vulgare morphs, including the wild type, St. Lucia, Orange Vigor, Punta Cana, and Magic Potion. Colors are shiny and can be solid, spotted, and striped. The display mimics gems.
Vulgare is a surface isopod that thrives in temperate environments with a moisture gradient. Armadillidium does not tolerate excessive moisture. Good ventilation is essential.
Prefers darkness and will congregate under bark.
Not sexually dimorphic.
AKA "Pill Bug," thus rolls into a ball ("arma") to retain moisture when its habitat is too dry, as well as a defensive posture.
NOTE: Color morphs are a product of unnatural selection and captive stock that produces numerous variations in the standard color pattern. In the case of Armadillidium vulgare, the wild/original color is dark grey.
