Difficulty: A good species for beginning collectors.A large spider, identifiable by a black abdomen covered in brown hairs. Different from B. hamorii or B. smithi, the knee coloration is a bright flame red.
Obligate burrower, so make sure to provide sufficient substrate for deep burrows. When the burrow is in use, silk can be found near the entrance.
Defends itself via urticating hairs and biting. Venom is not considered medically significant.
