Temperament: Known for its nervous temperament. Can be active during the day. Overall considered rather docile compared to other tarantulas.
Difficulty: A good species for beginning collectors.A large spider, identifiable by a black abdomen covered in brown hairs. Their legs are orange to dark red-orange coloration with orange hairs, giving them their name. Often confused with the Mexican redknee tarantula.
Defends itself via urticating hairs and biting. Venom is not considered medically significant.
Requires substrate sufficient for burrowing.
