Difficulty: A suitable species for beginning collectors.Cousin to the Brachypelma boehmei, this large spider can be identified by its dark brown body and legs, and a lighter carapace marked with a distinctive black triangle. Its abdomen is deep black. The B emilia's legs are covered with orange/red/pink hairs.
Defends itself via urticating hairs and biting. Venom is not considered medically significant.
Requires substrate sufficient for deep burrowing.
