Identifiable by its predominantly chocolate brown to grey shell.

Very hardy species thrive in moist climates and damp soils but are not excessively wet. Good ventilation is critical.

Not sexually dimorphic.

AKA "Pill Bug," thus rolls into a ball (conglobate) to retain moisture when the habitat is too dry and as a defensive posture.

 

Captive bred. Colonies include various sizes/ages.
