    Reproductive Rate: Takes a while to get started. Small, frequent broods. Said to be challenging to breed in captivity.

    Difficulty: Recommended for experienced collectors.

     

    Identifiable by its orange beak, yellow face, and black eyes, which give it a "duck" like appearance. Its body is dark brown, and it has an orange/yellow tail.

    Very shy and prefers darkness. Consequently, they burrow and aren't usually visible during the daytime.

    They thrive in humid climates and damp soils but are not excessively wet. A deep substrate to enable them to burrow. Their substrate can never dry out. Good ventilation is critical.

    They don't like to be disturbed.

    Not sexually dimorphic.

    AKA "Pill Bug", thus rolls into a ball (conglobate) to retain moisture when the habitat is too dry, as well as a defensive posture.

     

    Captive bred. Colonies include various sizes/ages.
