Difficulty: Good for beginning collectors.AKA "curly" or "teardrop" isopod, identifiable by its black and white mottled carapace, sometimes mimicking a dalmatian. No distinctive patterns, and can even be solid in color.
From the Cylisticidae family, this strain of Cylisticus convexus was isolated by Smug Bugs.
Adaptable to various environments, including humid, temperate, and semi-arid habitats. A moisture gradient is recommended with moderate ventilation. They require sufficient substrate for burrowing.
Active and prolific. Not sexually dimorphic.
AKA "Pill Bug", thus rolls into a ball (conglobate) to retain moisture when the habitat is too dry, as well as a defensive posture. They don't tuck in their antenna. Their defense is to run (fast) and hide.
Captive bred. Colonies include various sizes/ages.
