Difficulty: A good species for beginning collectors.This T is a burrower so make sure you have sufficient substrate. In nature, they either dig ground burrows or find abandoned rodent burrows to live in that they then line with their silk. The burrows are typically straight down with only one or two chambers.
When disturbed, their first defense is to run and hide or flick urticating hairs. Medical authorities urge owners to wear protective eyewear when handling G. rosea.
Their bite is toxic; the venom contains neurotoxins that disrupt the nervous system and hemotoxins that disrupt the circulatory system. However, it is not considered extremely dangerous to people.
