Temperament: Skittish and proned to bite. Sting is painful and venomous, but not medically significant, though some people may be allergic to scorpion stings in general.
Difficulty: Intermmediate to experienced collectors.A mid-sized scorpion identifiable by brown-tan stripes on the back of its tail along the keels or ridges; the tail is typically thicker than the hands and pedipalps. Some may have a base color of light yellow/golden brown.
Easy to care for. Substrate can be sand, dry peat, dry soil, rocks, pebbles, or a mixture of any of those. Moisture is also important so include a section of wet moss and a water dish. They will appreciate a hide to dig under, such as a piece of bark.
Like tarantulas, scorpions should not be handled. Dropping a scorpion can result in death of the scorpion unless it bites you before it's dropped. Then you both have a problem.
