    Common Name: Fringed Ornamental Tarantula
    Native Locale: Wet forests in Sri Lanka
    Category: Arboreal, Old World
    Adult Size (DLS):  10 inches
    Lifespan: Females=12 years   Males=2-3 years
    Growth Rate:  Fast
    Temperament: Highly defensive, extremely fast (often described as teleporting), and possessing potent, medically significant venom.
    Difficulty:  Recommended for only experienced collectors.

     

    Mature Ts show fractal-like patterns on the abdomen with greenish-yellow, purple, and black tones. It is known for its vivid yellow markings on the underside of its legs.

    Probably the second largest of the genus, behind Poecilotheria rufilata. Requires a tall, vertical terrarium with plenty of cork bark and hides.
