    AKA the Swift Woodlouse, Dairy Cow Isopod, or Smooth slater in Australia

    Porcellio laevis = smooth pig (due to its smooth carapace)

    A large, wide-bodied isopod with a white carapace and black/grey spots mimicking the Holstein Dairy cow.

    A very hardy species that thrives in damp and dry environments via a moisture gradient habitat. Good ventilation is essential.

    Very active and fast-moving.

    Sexually dimorphic - males can be identified by their long, spear-shaped uropods.

    AKA 'Sowbug,' thus cannot roll into a ball.

    Long-living isopod - 2 to 3 years.

     

    Captive bred. Colonies include various sizes/ages.
