Porcellio laevis = smooth pig (due to its smooth carapace)

A large, wide-bodied isopod displays a brown/grey carapace with a vertical white band down its back, with grey edges on its skirt.

Very hardy species thrive in damp and dry environments via a moisture gradient habitat. Good ventilation is essential.

Very active and fast-moving.

AKA "Sowbug," thus cannot roll into a ball.

Long-living isopod - 2 to 3 years.

 

Captive bred. Colonies include various sizes/ages.
