A broad, flattened species with characteristic markings: the head is dark brown, and the back is marked with a dark central stripe, flanked by two rows of yellow spots on a pale background. 

Very fast movers when startled. Remains concealed under a rock or logs during the day. Active at night, when they can be found on the surface.

Not sexually dimorphic.

AKA "Sowbug", thus cannot roll into a ball. 

Captive bred. Colonies include various sizes/ages.
